This colt is out of the young mare Salima II van het Twents Veilinghuis. Although Salima II herself is still young, her dam line gives every reason for high expectations. Her great-granddam Halima has already produced a seven-year-old competing at 1.35m level, who was selected for this year’s World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken. The family also includes internationally successful show jumpers, including Pino at 1.60m level and Salima at 1.50m level.
The sire, Uricas vd Kattevennen, is a proven international 1.60m show jumper by Uriko x Cassini I. He finished fifth at the World Championships for seven-year-old horses in Lanaken and subsequently built an impressive international record under Harrie Smolders. In 2023, they won the 5 Grand Prix of St. Gallen* and the 5 Grand Prix of Riesenbeck*, and finished third in the Rolex Grand Prix of Brussels. They also finished second in the Sires of the World in Mechelen and achieved numerous top results at 1.55m and 1.60m level. The pair also represented the Netherlands at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
His own dam line is equally impressive. Uricas comes from a proven Holstein family, with his granddam Chika’s Way herself competing at 1.60m level. Further back in the pedigree, we find Wodka II, who produced several 1.60m performers, including Carassina and Ut Wodka.
This colt combines the modern international sport genetics of Uricas vd Kattevennen with an interesting young dam line that offers plenty of potential for further development.
